KENT, OH – Tom Zawistowski, President of the We the People Convention, announced today that the 2013 We the People Convention will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Columbus, OH. A main focus of the 2013 WTPC will be a two hour presentation and discussion concerning the possibility of holding an Article V Convention of States for the purpose of Amending the United States Constitution. In making the announcement, Zawistowski said “Today, Ohio Representative Matt Huffman and 30 co-sponsors filed a proposed Resolution (H.J.R. 7) that calls for a convention of states in which a balance budget amendment to the US Constitution could be proposed. Ohio Governor John Kasich has also announced his support for such an amendment. The problem is that most citizens, and even most legislators, have little understanding of how an Article V Convention of States would work. Many who do understand it have serious questions that need to be answered before they can support this effort. That is one of the things we hope to accomplish at the 2013 We the People Convention. We are bringing in experts to explain how an Article V Convention would work to answer the concerns of many conservatives who fear a “run-away” convention.”

Other issues important to Ohio, such as Medicaid Expansion, Common Core, Voter ID laws, and others, will also be covered at the one day event. Zawistowski added, “We have had solid attendance at each of the previous two We the People Conventions and we think this year’s attendance will be even better with all the key issues in Ohio on the program. The Medicaid Expansion fight is coming to a head right now and many people are very interested in CommonCore and the idea of passing a Voter ID law in Ohio. Congress is going to be considering the Immigration reform bill and the option of defunding ObamaCare and those will also be discussed. The interest in all these topics is sky high and we are pleased to be able to provide a forum for concerned citizen to learn about all of them at this year’s We the People Convention.”

The WTPC is non-partisan event that is open to all citizens who support individual liberty and freedom and accept the responsibility of citizens to participate in there own self-governance as provided in the Ohio and US Constitutions. Tickets for the 2013 WTPC went on sale today online at http://WethePeopleConventionTickets.eventbrite.com for only $37.50 each.
