MATT LYNCH FILES TO RUN IN 14th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Former Republican State Representative Matt Lynch today filed his petitions for the 14th Congressional primary to be held on March 15, 2016. Lynch had announced last June that he intended to challenge Republican incumbent Dave Joyce for the seat. “Congressman Joyce is the poster child for what’s wrong with Washington”, Lynch said, “Joyce has consistently voted with the lobbyists and political insiders and every Conservative group has graded him with an F”.

In 2014 Lynch ran […]

Kasich Administration Reduces Medicaid Services for Developmentally Disabled

While Governor Kasich talks of renewing Medicaid expansion for abled bodied adults, his Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is quietly reducing Medicaid services for Ohio’s developmentally disabled population.

The DODD released its Final Report of the Strategic Planning Leadership Group in late December which calls for a 50 percent reduction in beds for Intermediate Care Facility homes that provide skilled nursing and personal care as well as community access to school, day services, and recreation […]

Republican Lawmakers Appear Leery of Renewing Obamacare Medicaid Expansion

The time is fast approaching when Governor Kasich will release his proposed budget for the 2016-2017 biennium. When he does, he is expected to include a two year renewal of Obamacare Medicaid expansion – the expansion you will remember which Kasich forced through the Controlling Board against the wishes of the state legislature.

Kasich has been beating the drum for the renewal of expansion for some months talking again about his faith driving him to […]

Irony Alert: Kasich to Travel Country Promoting Balanced Budget Amendment

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Governor Kasich plans to travel the country in 2016, not to get a jump on a presidential campaign, but to push for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Ohio is one of 24 states which has called for a constitutional convention. Ten more states are needed to convene the convention and 38 states are needed to ratify an amendment.

The stops Kasich plans to make on his tour […]

Obamacare Updates: Enrollment, Perverse Incentives, and Governor Kasich

Obamacare’s second annual open enrollment period has been underway for approximately two weeks, but even before it began, the Obama administration downplayed expectations by lowering its projected 2015 enrollment figure by 30%.

The Congressional Budget Office orginally predicted there would be 13 million Obamacare customers in 2015, but that figure has now been lowered to between 9 and 9.9 million when taking into consideration returning customers and new enrollees.

Fox News indicates that the administration is […]

Obamacare Enrollment Not As Reported by Obama Administration

How much more obfuscation and misinformation about Obamacare will Americans be subjected to?

Bloomberg reports that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee discovered that the Obama administration has been misreporting the number of people enrolled in Obamacare by approximately 380,000. The administration was double accounting for consumers who were enrolled in both a medical and dental plan through the federal and state health care marketplaces in order to get the enrollment numbers above 7 […]

U.S. Supreme Court to Hear Challenge to Obamacare Subsidies

There’s hopeful news this week on the Obamacare front. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a challenge to the tax subsidies that keep Obamacare afloat. The Court will review a ruling by a three judge panel of a federal appeals court in Richmond, Virginia which upheld IRS regulations that allow Obamacare tax subsidies in all 50 states.

Language in the ACA states that subsidies are available to individuals that enroll in an insurance plan […]

Kasich Struggles with Conflicting Positions and Images

Governor Kasich got himself into a little hot water over comments he made about Obamacare and Medicaid expansion to the AP.

Kasich told the AP that he did not think repeal was going to happen because “political or ideological” opposition does not “hold water” against “real improvements in peoples’ lives.”

The AP thought Kasich meant opposition to Obamacare would not “hold water,” but Kasich’s staff claims the Governor meant opposition to Obamacare Medicaid expansion.

The Washington Post […]

71% of Obamacare Enrollment is Medicaid expansion

The numbers aren’t looking good for Obamacare. The Daily Signal reviewed the enrollment figures for the first half of 2014 and found that while 8,538,237 more people have health insurance since Obamacare went live, 71% of that growth in coverage was from Medicaid expansion.

Here is the breakdown of the numbers:

6,254,564 people purchased an individual market insurance plan either through the Obamacare exchanges or the private market.

But the growth in the individual market was offset […]
