Akron, OH – Tom Zawistowski, President of the We the People Convention, released a video tonight of Ohio “Republican” State Chairman, Matt Borges, attempting to retaliate against TEA Party members on the State Central Committee for having the audacity to encourage other real Republicans to run for State Central Committee seats. Zawistowski said, “Every Republican, really every citizen, needs to watch this video so they can see how corrupt, dishonest and deceitful the Ohio “Republican” Party is, and how Chairman Matt Borges attempts to intimidate and bully Conservative group members Gary Burkholder and Lisa Cooper.  We are proud of how Gary and Lisa stood their ground and defended their rights and those of all other Ohio Republicans to participate in running the Republican Party of which they are all members. I am certain that any decent person who watches this video will be disgusted by what they see, and will appreciate the courage and tenacity of Conservative group Members who are fighting to restore OUR Republican Party to the conservative values and principles that are outlined in the National Republican Party Platform. A platform by the way, that Mr. Borges and the other 54 State Central Committee members refuse to adopt. (Copy of Platform Attached)”

Zawistowski concluded, “As Mr. Borges notes in the video, the Ohio Citizens PAC, and other TEA Party Organizations and activists around the state, have recruited 55 candidates to challenge the incumbents who are now on the State Central Committee. We will be making those candidates known to Ohio Republican Primary voters in the coming weeks, so that they can vote in the Primary to remove the RINO State Central Committee members who voted to endorse Kasich today and who provide cover for this corrupt organization. Until the Republcan Party is restored to a position where it serves the will of Republican voters, instead of doing everything it can to manipulate and control them, our nation will continue to deteriorate both morally and economically. It doesn’t have to be this way. We the People can fix our political parties. Most people reading this release don’t even know how the political parties work, because they operate in secret. Now the secret is out and I am sure this video will be shared far and wide in the coming days and the vote in the primary will be very interesting indeed.”

Sometime ago I suggested to the secretary of State at the time for Ohio that inasmuch as Party affiliations were listed as Republican, Democrat, and Independent, that the Independent group who were already a quasi (seemingly; apparently but not really) Party be afforded the same election status as the Republican and Democrats.

I am now a member of the Central Committee and on my walking list there are few registered Republicans or Democrats, but many, many “no party”. Might this suggest that Americans are ready for a third party – the Independent Party? Was the Ohio State House “afraid” of the quasi “Independent” becoming a “real” Party with all the privileges of the Republican and Democrat Parties? All persons seeking election in the United States could run as a Republican, Democrat, or Independent with the same rules for ballot access.

Along with this, might PACs be limited to the candidate only and let other interested parties be held to the $2,000 plus contributions per election? Neither group to accept donations from anyone who is not “directly” represented by the candidate. The limit now on individuals forces them to give to PACs. Why should “special interest” PACs get access and determine who will get it rather than the candidates themselves?

If the Liberty Party ever wants to really make a difference, why keep messing inside the Republican Party? You will never change them, nor will you ever run them out because the system corrupts people. The good news is that both parties are becoming less and less relevant as the number of Independent voters continues to grow. Just put out a ballot initiative to change the rules so that Independents can vote in the primaries – it would put the entire Republican Party system in Ohio upside down.
