We want to thank everyone for all the calls that were made to State Reps yesterday (Tuesday, April 16th). The reason for this effort is to encourage Reps to stand strong and not allow any form of Medicaid/Obamacare expansion to be put back in the budget (i.e. or into any other legislation in the future).

From the feedback we’ve received, Reps are hearing the message from you loud and clear.  On a side note, it is an odd notion that some Reps say they’ll only consider calls from “within” their district.

  • The reality is individuals are free to donate, make calls, go door-to-door, and volunteer during elections for any Rep and volunteering across districts is quite common.
  • Lobbyists are almost never constituents from within a Rep’s district, yet they get the ears of Reps constantly.
  • The Ohio House Republican Caucus and special interest PACs regularly fund the re-election campaigns of individual Reps with dollars raised outside of Reps’ districts. Click to view contributors to Ohio statehouse members.
  • In the end, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. We all swim in the same pool that is Ohio. As such, every voice matters.

Until the budget is finalized in the House, we have every reason to keep up the pressure. If you didn’t get a chance to make calls yesterday, please call today. Here again is our suggested list of Reps to call:

“C’mon, there’s all kinds of legislative maneuvers that go on. You get something out. You get a piece of what you want. You keep it alive. You move it in the other body. You expand it out. You get it into conference committee. It’s just a long process.”
