Capitol Hill Building . Washington DC.Brewing in DC is a new battle posing a threat to shut down the government this fall – at the center of the storm is funding for Obamacare.

In recent years, Congress has regularly had to pass continuing resolutions to keep the government funded, this year is no exception.

In a story today from TheHill.com, Senate Republicans are said to be “coalescing around” a proposal to block any funding resolutions for the government that include dollars for the implementation of Obamacare.  Senator Mike Lee is quoted in the article as saying,

“This is the last stop before Obamacare fully kicks in on Jan. 1 of next year for us to refuse to fund it.”

In the House of Representatives, Republican Mark Meadows of North Carolina is leading an effort to ask leadership – Speaker John Boehner- not to bring to the floor any proposals that include funding for Obamacare. So far, he has 64 House members signed on to his effort.

As of Tuesday afternoon, only three of Ohio’s Republican Congressional Reps had signed on to Representative Meadows’ letter,

Jim Jordan – Yes
Steve Chabot – Yes
Brad Wenstrup – Yes
Jim Renacci – No
Steve Stivers – No
Pat Tiberi – No
Bob Gibbs – No
Bill Johnson – No
Mike Turner – No
Robert Latta – No
David Joyce – No
John Boehner – No

Quoted also in the article from the Hill.com is Matt Hoskins, executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund,

“Any Republican who votes to give Obama a single penny to implement Obamacare is part of the problem and should be defeated. Any Republican who votes to fund Obamacare should have a primary challenger.”
