If you are a Republican, you may have received an email from the Kasich/Taylor team bad mouthing Obamacare and distributing a petition for Ohioans to sign to stand up against the health care law.  It was an odd thing to receive from an administration hell bent on implementing Obamacare in Ohio through Medicaid expansion.

The email also notified citizens that insurance premiums on the individual market are expected to rise 41% in Ohio due to the health care law based on a study conducted by the Ohio Department of Insurance.  Premiums for small business are expected to increase 18%.

The study’s complete findings were reported in a Department press release in which Taylor is quoted as saying,

“Ohio has traditionally had a more competitive health insurance market than other states with a wider range of prices and choices – from simple, high deductible coverage to comprehensive, full service plans.  That level of diversity is essentially outlawed under Obamacare so Ohio’s rates and premiums are going up significantly, and going up more than in other states where prices were already high.”

The press release links to a chart which outlines premium increases by Ohio market.

The Department of Insurance press release also confirmed a finding the Department announced earlier this summer that insurance companies’ costs to provide individual coverage will increase 83% in Ohio due to Obamacare.

So Governor Kasich wants Ohioans to take a stand against Obamacare.  That’s rich.  Ohio citizens have done more than any Ohio politician to stop Obamacare.  We collected over 400,000 signatures to place the Health Care Freedom Amendment on the ballot and then proceeded to pass it with 66% of the statewide vote.  We put Republicans in charge of every branch of government in Ohio and campaigned hard to get new leadership in Washington.  In return, we have had to fight elected Republicans tooth and nail to keep them from advancing Obamacare through Medicaid expansion.  And, if necessary, we will continue to do so.

Governor Kasich, Ohio citizens have asked you to take a stand against Obamacare since your first day in office.  Instead of sending campaign emails with donate buttons, we suggest you get to work doing what the people of Ohio have elected you to do — stand up to the forces in Washington who want to take away our health care freedom and our state sovereignty.
