Matt Lynch Welcomes Resignation of Speaker Boehner

Warns the Establishment to Respect Conservatives

Cleveland, OH – John Boehner announced today that he would step down as Speaker. Matt Lynch, Candidate for Congress in the Ohio 14th District, said “While some say it is a surprise, rumors in Washington have been circulating for months that this was likely to happen. Why? Because the Republican Party base has had it with the phony Republicans leading the GOP!  Surveys show that over 62% of Republicans are unhappy and wanted Boehner out because he has not done the things that they elected an overwhelming majority of Republicans in the House to do.”

Lynch was not optimistic that a conservative will be chosen to replace Boehner, saying “The phony Republicans did not listen when Eric Cantor was defeated and I fear they are still deaf to the conservative base of the Party.”  He hopes the establishment has learned its lesson, but he doubts it.  “I predict that they will allow the US Chamber and K Street to dictate who the new Speaker will be and that is a shame. The people of this great nation deserve a speaker who is solely focused on their needs, on private sector growth, on jobs. That is why I am running for Congress. That is why I will apply for membership in the House Freedom Caucus upon being elected.”
