Dear State Central Committee Member:

I write to you today in support of Jane Timken for Ohio Republican Party Chairman.  It is time for a fresh start for the Ohio Republican Party, and Ms. Timken is currently the best prospect for Ohio Republicans to move forward.

After eight years of failed Democratic policies in Washington during the Obama Administration, a wonderful opportunity presents itself with the election of Donald J. Trump to the Presidency as our 45th President.   President Trump will have the benefit of Republicans controlling both the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.  With Ohio returning twelve Republicans to Congress, they will need the support and appreciation of the President-Elect so that Ohio is not forgotten in policy.

Despite the stand-down order of the ORP when it came to helping candidate Trump rally the base and launch an effective election campaign, grass roots and everyday Ohioans stepped up to the plate and campaigned for the Party’s nominee.  I can’t begin to tell you how many times I was asked, “Is the Party fully supporting our nominee?”  It was embarrassing to explain that the ORP was not doing all that it could to help the Republican nominee, but that we should work with the Trump victory centers and coordinate with local grass roots campaigns to help elect Mr. Trump.  The division that I speak of is no secret, but was widely reported in newspapers and social media.   Even if one wanted to ignore the division, it was nearly impossible to do so.

What I emphasized to everyone was to stay focused on the task at hand and to utilize the resources they had to the best of their ability to campaign vigorously for the nominee.  The campaign, understanding the importance of Ohio, made numerous trips here for Mr. Trump and Governor Pence. With Evangelicals being a key voting block, the RNC also provided personnel and resources to help motivate faith-based voters.

I’ve been a registered Republican my entire adult life, but never have I seen the division that currently exists between the state party and local county chapters.  That is why I urge you to cast your vote to support Jane Timken as our next State Republican Chair.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our President-elect and the Vice President-elect as they will tackle the challenges that our country faces over the next four years.
